Grade 5 Weekly Update

5th Grade Weekly Update
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the end of what turned out to be an unexpectedly short week with the Typhoon Day on Tuesday.
What we learned This week
Math: Topic 3 – Multiplication Properties
Literacy: Diary Writing (Dear Mr. Henshaw) connected to Personal Narratives.
English: Subjects in Imperatives, Run-on Sentences and Writing Good Sentences
Science: Unit A The Life Processes – Ch. 1 Cells/Chapter Wrap Up/Chapter Test
Social Studies: Ch. 2 The Nation Divides – This will start next week due to lost time caused by the Typhoon Day.
What we will learn Next week
Math: Topic 3 – Multiplication Properties
Literacy: Global Awareness Week Activities.
English: Unit One Check-Up and An Introduction To Nouns.
Science: Unit A The Life Processes – Ch. 2 Plant Cells
Social Studies: Ch. 2 The Nation Divides – The Events Leading Up To The US Civil War
Announcements:
Student of the Week: Due to the short week, we do not have a Student Of The Week this week.

Congratulations again to those with top scores this week. Please see the Class Dojo post below to find out where you stand on the list.
Reminders
1.     Please be aware that next week is our Global Awareness Week. We will be looking at the world through the eyes of others throughout the week to promote the ideas of Caring and Empathy. 
2.     We will be wearing GREEN next Wednesday as part of our Awareness Week. Please be sure to remember wear green on that day.
3.     Don’t forget the long weekend coming up at the end of next week. There will be no school on Friday, October 9th.
